NaphCare Charitable Foundation Scholarship

About the Scholarship

The scholarship is available to full-time students pursuing a degree, or an approved training or certificate program, at an accredited community college or at Morehead State University in Kentucky. It is renewable for one additional year, provided the recipient continues to meet the standards described below. Funds may be used for tuition, institutional housing, supplies, books, and fees. Any scholarship funds remaining at the end of the 2-year award period remain in the NCF's account.

Eligibility

Individuals with a high school diploma from one of the following schools are eligible to apply, without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information:

Bath County High School

Owingsville, KY

Menifee County High School

Frenchburg, KY

Priority is given to applicants who provide documented financial need.

All donors, and relatives of donors, who contribute more than two percent of the Fund's assets are ineligible to receive a scholarship from the Fund. The NCF's Board of Directors, former directors, staff, and scholarship application reviewers — including their spouses, children, adopted children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — are prohibited from applying for or receiving any scholarship, grant, or financial award from the NCF. Per IRS regulations, this exclusion remains in effect for three (3) years after the individual's volunteer service or employment with the NCF concludes.

Application

The scholarship application and these guidelines are available online at www.naphcarecharitablefoundation.org. The NCF revises the guidelines and application documents as necessary. Applications must be submitted electronically to the NCF by March 1 of each year. The NCF does not accept applications submitted after the March 1 deadline.

Review Process & Selection

In compliance with federal law, scholarship recipients are selected by the NCF's scholarship application reviewers. Students submit their application packet online at www.naphcarecharitablefoundation.org by March 1. NCF staff first screen each application for clarity and completeness. Applications that pass this screen are presented to the scholarship application reviewers for evaluation and scoring. The Executive Director of Educational Giving compiles the resulting scores and recommendations and submits them to the Board of Directors for final approval.

Award Distribution

The NCF distributes scholarship payments at the beginning of each academic semester. Distributions are not made until the NCF receives all required documentation, including but not limited to:

  • Certified proof of enrollment and a tuition bill listing tuition and fees from the institution
  • Confirmation that the recipient is enrolled as a full-time student
  • Proof of ongoing academic good standing or continued enrollment, as determined by the institution

Checks are made directly to the financial administration office at the college or institution; no distribution is made to any individual for any reason.

Continuing scholarship payments are made based on regular renewal reviews, provided the student remains enrolled full-time and maintains satisfactory academic progress or good standing as defined by their institution. Students must notify the NCF immediately of any additional educational or financial aid grants or awards, and of any change in the student's financial support.

Responsibility of Recipient

Each scholarship recipient is responsible for fulfilling the requirements for admission to the college or school of their choice. The recipient must enter a post-secondary institution no later than the fall term following their selection and award, or the award is forfeited.
